Mountains revisited: theory in field practice

guided

Inhale. Exhale. The warm feeling of the first rays of the spring on the eyelids. The crunch of snow underfoot.  Alone, yet not lonely.  Clear sky, clear air, clear soul. I am here. At this moment. Reconnected.

Closer I am to the top, the more surrealistic it feels. As my muscles filled with blood get weaker, I finally allow myself to let go. Nothing is important here. The only thing that matters is the movement. Lungs are filling up with the oxygen. Rejuvenated.

I am like a monk worshiping this mountain. I bow down with strain in the hardest sections with a devout esteem for her. She is my mentor, teacher, and guide. I found peace in her majesty. She allowed me to become close to her for today. She could drag me down. Or let me be in my prime. I am honored. Refreshed.

Her greatness helps me realize how small I really am. Perhaps one could find this scary. But I am not scared. I feel blessed. Magnetized towards that feeling. The liberty, freedom and independence it contains. I am so lucky today. She allows me to see her peers. Other peaks of this marvelous landscape are blooming in front of me as I am reaching higher. Reawaken.

I am just a guest here. Fully aware that my existence is just a grain of sand in her eternity. The stellar wind would sweep it away, forgotten. She does not need to know anything about me. Or about anyone else. That’s why so many people fear her. That’s why so many people cannot be without her. Once she allows you to sense her. You become a new one. Resurrected.

Closer to heaven, remoteness to myself. Moment of transformation. Modification. Growth. I am nobody to her. And yet she provided all of this in one moment to me. Somehow I am still the same. But yet. Renewed.

  1. Wow! Very engaging and immersive prose. The text guides the reader through almost audible, tangible, and importantly, bodily sensations that offer full immersion in the author’s experience. Powerful piece of writing.
