Tomáš Roztočil, the author of this project, is an avid researcher, poet, translator, and musician, who works as a lector and studies his Ph.D. at Palacký University, Olomouc, Czech Republic.

In past 4 years, he has been working on research in the fields of spatial literary studies and genre studies, and teaching various courses related to the theory of literature.

As an obsessed universalist, Tomáš has been always fascinated by intellectual, geographical, artistic as well personal/physical aspect of various forms of being in the mountains including nowadays-popular activities of hiking, climbing, and mountaineering, which are among academics usually seen as superficial sports, and among their practitioners celebrated with almost-religious zest.

In 2022, he has decided to merge his two sides of life, and launched a project Mountains Revisited: Theory in Practice that aims to review our approach to the mountains in the context of Anthropocene.

The project aims to put theory into practice – to revisit various storytelling/theoretical approaches to the mountains and offer affect-based fieldwork methods that come closer to their actual physical reality, and contribute to their possible futures.
