In fact, it never occurred to me to think more deeply about the meaning of the mountains and the perception of the mountains in general, beyond the fact that they are just some hills. For me personally, the mountains are a famous natural phenomenon, which perhaps must leave a certain form of surprise, mystery, and admiration in everyone. I perceive the mountains as a way – a certain direction, building the ability to endure pain, overcoming obstacles, and, although it is strange, still enjoy it all. It is a place used for expeditions by people with different motives – head cleansing, training, or just a Sunday program.
I’m fascinated by how mountains connect people – the mere fact that when you meet one of the people while climbing steep hills, you greet each other and send a signal that you know about each other in case of danger builds a feeling of integrity in me, which is hard to find outside the mountain peaks nowadays.
The inspiring opinion for me is the opinion of Robert Macfarlane from his book “Mountains of the Mind”, where he underlines the fact that mountains as such are only an unconscious object, therefore does not consciously help or consciously hurt, does not consciously resist or anything like that – it is the only man who invents and romanticizes these aspects and attributes character to the mountains. It is one large heap reaching to different heights, enriched by an endless mixture of stones and branches, overgrown with nature and yet it can perfectly revive our souls and drive away sadness.
The mountains are an escape, a return to the roots, despite the fact that we can live in cities all our lives and have no contact with nature and the mountains – the mountains enter everyone’s life at least once in a lifetime. Mountains are a challenge that teaches even without words – it provides a number of audiovisual elements that have inspired poets for many years and still inspire today – and yet I must emphasize again the passivity of the mountains, which are not responsible for this wave of energy and inspiration; yet it evokes all these emotions both in me and in others. The top of the mountains presents us with the beauty of the landscape, which cannot be captured in the photographs.

“The top of the mountains presents us with the beauty of the landscape, which cannot be captured in the photographs.” – what a beautiful encapsulation of just how immense the impossibility to comprehend that feeling is without experiencing it. Fantastic article!! ^-^
